Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver effective Social Studies lessons covering history, geography, economics, and sociology in accordance with the school curriculum
  • Develop lesson plans, learning materials, and assessments that promote analytical thinking, discussion, and real-world connections
  • Encourage students to understand historical perspectives, cultural diversity, social systems, and global issues*
  • Facilitate interactive learning activities, such as debates, projects, case studies, and research assignments
  • Assess and monitor students’ academic progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and assessment results
  • Integrate current events and global developments into classroom discussions to enhance relevance of the subject
  • Collaborate with other teachers and school staff in curriculum development, interdisciplinary learning, and school programmes
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding students’ progress and learning needs
  • Participate actively in professional development, school activities, and faculty meetings to continuously improve teaching practice

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education, History, Geography, Economics, Sociology, or a related field
  • Teaching certification or relevant educator qualification is preferred
  • Minimum 1–2 years of teaching experience in Junior High School level is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of interdisciplinary social studies subjects, including history, geography, economics, and sociology
  • Ability to design engaging, inquiry-based, and student-centred lessons that encourage critical thinking
  • Familiarity with modern teaching methods, educational technology, and digital learning tools
  • Good classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Proficiency in English communication (spoken and written) is preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to student character development, global awareness, and civic responsibility
