Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, inclusive, and well-structured music lessons aligned with the Primary curriculum
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including EAL students and those with additional learning needs
  • Assess, record, and report on students’ progress and attainment in line with school policy
  • Create a positive and stimulating learning environment that encourages student participation, creativity, and musical development
  • Foster an appreciation of music in its various forms, including singing, instrumental work, and musical appreciation
  • Plan, lead and organise musical performances such as assemblies, seasonal concerts, and other school events
  • Support and direct extra-curricular music clubs, choirs, ensembles, or instrumental groups
  • Actively promote and uphold all Safeguarding and Child Protection policies and responsible use of personal data in accordance with the relevant personal data protection policies and procedures within the school
  • In liaison with the Line Managers, take responsibility for upholding Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) practice within your own working area and be responsible for completing risk assessments/near misses as appropriate
  • Undertake any other relevant duties as assigned by the Primary Leadership Team and Primary Performing Arts Leader

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or related field
  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Teaching Licence, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience teaching music, preferably in a Primary or international school setting
  • Strong knowledge of music pedagogy, music theory, and practical performance
  • Experience leading student performances, assemblies, and musical productions
  • Excellent classroom management, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in integrating technology into music teaching (e.g. GarageBand, digital notation, etc)
  • High level of spoken and written English
  • The ability to teach and play brass instruments, especially trumpet
  • Experience with international curricula (e.g., UK National Curriculum, PYP, or similar)
  • Ability to teach multiple instruments or lead vocal/ensemble groups
  • Experience in leading co-curricular music activities or events
