Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development:
- Develop and update the economics and business studies curriculum in alignment with educational standards and objectives
- Design lesson plans, teaching materials, and resources that cater to students’ diverse learning needs.
- Classroom Instruction:
- Deliver effective and engaging lessons that enable students to comprehend economic and business principles
- Use a variety of teaching methods, such as lectures, group activities, discussions, and real-world case studies to enhance student learning
- Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills development
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Create and administer assessments, quizzes, exams, and projects to measure student progress
- Provide constructive feedback on student work and maintain accurate records of grades and performance
- Adapt teaching strategies based on assessment results to meet individual student needs
- Classroom Management:
- Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect, cooperation, and active participation
- Maintain discipline and address behavioral issues in a fair and consistent manner
- Student Support and Guidance:
- Offer academic support to students through one-on-one assistance and extra help sessions
- Guide and mentor students in their career choices and college or university applications related to economics and business studies
- Professional Development:
- Stay current with educational trends, pedagogical techniques, and developments in economics and business studies
- Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
- Communication:
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, classroom activities, and curriculum updates
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and meetings to discuss student performance and address concerns
- Administrative Tasks:
- Perform administrative duties, including submitting grades, reports, and other required documentation in a timely manner
- Assist in departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and school-wide events
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, or a related field
- A Master’s degree is preferred
- Teaching certification or licensure for the relevant grade level
- Knowledge of educational standards and curriculum development
- Knowledge in Cambridge and IBDP curriculum is a plus
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success
- Proficiency in educational technology and relevant software applications
- Prior teaching experience is a plus
