Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development:
    • Develop and update the economics and business studies curriculum in alignment with educational standards and objectives
    • Design lesson plans, teaching materials, and resources that cater to students’ diverse learning needs.
  • Classroom Instruction:
    • Deliver effective and engaging lessons that enable students to comprehend economic and business principles
    • Use a variety of teaching methods, such as lectures, group activities, discussions, and real-world case studies to enhance student learning
    • Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills development
  • Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Create and administer assessments, quizzes, exams, and projects to measure student progress
    • Provide constructive feedback on student work and maintain accurate records of grades and performance
    • Adapt teaching strategies based on assessment results to meet individual student needs
  • Classroom Management:
    • Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect, cooperation, and active participation
    • Maintain discipline and address behavioral issues in a fair and consistent manner
  • Student Support and Guidance:
    • Offer academic support to students through one-on-one assistance and extra help sessions
    • Guide and mentor students in their career choices and college or university applications related to economics and business studies
  • Professional Development:
    • Stay current with educational trends, pedagogical techniques, and developments in economics and business studies
    • Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
  • Communication:
    • Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, classroom activities, and curriculum updates
    • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and meetings to discuss student performance and address concerns
  • Administrative Tasks:
    • Perform administrative duties, including submitting grades, reports, and other required documentation in a timely manner
    • Assist in departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and school-wide events

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, or a related field
  • A Master’s degree is preferred
  • Teaching certification or licensure for the relevant grade level
  • Knowledge of educational standards and curriculum development
  • Knowledge in Cambridge and IBDP curriculum is a plus
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success
  • Proficiency in educational technology and relevant software applications
  • Prior teaching experience is a plus
