Overview

Responsibilities:

  • Manage data entry, cataloging, inventory, and classification of book collections
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and inviting library environment suitable for children
  • Handle book loan and return processes (manual or digital system)
  • Prepare regular library usage reports (weekly/monthly)
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain book conditions to ensure collection quality
  • Conduct storytelling sessions that are expressive, lively, and engaging
  • Plan and implement literacy programs
  • Design creative activities that promote reading habits among students
  • Assist students and teachers in book search, reading recommendations, and literacy-related needs
  • Explain and enforce library rules and guidelines
  • Support teachers in selecting books for class activities or storytelling sessions
  • Communicate effectively in English with students, teachers, and expatriate staff
  • Coordinate with teachers regarding library needs, themed books, or school events
  • Promote library activities through posters, announcements, or internal communication channels
  • Propose updates and additions to book collections based on trends and student needs
  • Develop the library as a creative, safe, and comfortable learning space
  • Initiate new ideas to enhance students’ reading interest and overall literacy culture

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, English Education, or English Language
  • Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written)
  • Passionate about reading and has broad knowledge of various book genres, especially children’s literature
  • Able to perform storytelling for children in an expressive, engaging, and age-appropriate manner
  • Energetic, agile, and comfortable interacting with young children
  • Strong administrative skills, including record keeping, filing, inventory, and reporting
  • Proficient in using basic computer applications (MS Office/Google Workspace)
  • Creative and capable of designing and executing library programs (storytelling sessions, reading week, reading challenges, etc.)
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Positive attitude, disciplined, and genuinely passionate about literacy and books
