Overview
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement an integrated communications strategy that supports school mission, vision, and strategic priorities
- Craft and manage key messaging, speechwriting, and talking points for the Head of School and senior leaders
- Advise the Head of School and Leadership Team on internal and external communications strategy, positioning, and messaging
- Oversee internal communications, ensuring consistent voice and clarity in all faculty, staff, and parent messaging
- Build brand cohesion across divisions and departments through guidelines, tools, and training
- Oversee development of the schoolwide communications calendar, messaging framework, and campaign plans
- Monitor trends and emerging issues in communications and marketing to inform best practices and innovation
- Lead the development and execution of a robust, data-informed marketing strategy that advances the JIS brand and institutional priorities
- Create integrated marketing campaigns to promote the school’s programs, values, and global reputation
- Ensure consistency in messaging and visual identity across all platforms and materials
- Produce compelling multimedia content that highlights JIS programs, people, and campus life
- Analyze marketing performance data to refine messaging, optimize channels, and improve ROI
- Monitor market trends, competitor positioning, and digital analytics to continuously improve messaging and targeting
- Oversee the School’s digital presence, including website, social media, email newsletters, video storytelling, and search visibility
- Lead a team of writers, designers, and photographers/videographers to create compelling and mission-aligned content
- Ensure consistency in branding, tone, and visual identity across all platforms and publications
- Monitor and respond to digital engagement, maintaining JIS’s reputation and visibility in local and international contexts
- Provide quality control for all public-facing materials, ensuring professional presentation and mission alignment
- Lead content planning and production of school-wide publications, including annual reports, viewbooks, handbooks, and promotional brochures
- Oversee editing, formatting, and approval workflows to ensure editorial accuracy, consistency, and compliance with brand standards
- Coordinate photo and video documentation of school life, events, and initiatives
- Manage editorial calendars in partnership with divisional leaders
- Serve as liaison to media outlets and community organizations, building strategic partnerships to enhance visibility
- Prepare and disseminate press releases, media kits, and feature stories
- Monitor media coverage and public sentiment related to JIS, advising on reputation management strategies
- Cultivate proactive media outreach opportunities to elevate JIS’s thought leadership and initiatives
- Manage internal communications for faculty, staff, and parents to ensure transparency, alignment, and community connection
- Manage and coordinate external divisional communications, in collaboration with principals
- Provide tools, templates, and training to school staff to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment in schoolwide communications
- Support the implementation of crisis communications in coordination with the Head of School and Risk Management Advisor
- Ensure all communications adhere to JIS policies on data privacy, safeguarding, and cultural sensitivity
- Develop and regularly update crisis communication protocols and scenario-based messaging templates to ensure rapid and coordinated response
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information
- Collaborate with the Admissions Office to generate and nurture prospective family leads through digital marketing, print materials, events, and media outreach
- Support the development of tailored communications for different admissions audiences
- Ensure Admissions materials align with overall branding and messaging strategies
- Partner with the Advancement Office to ensure communications are strategic and brand-aligned
- Develop and implement communications strategies that increase engagement and amplify the JIS brand with alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and institutional partners both locally and internationally
- Highlight community contributions and successes through storytelling, campaigns, and events to deepen stakeholder connection and promote ongoing involvement with the school
- Supervise the Communications Office team, including professional growth, workflows, and performance management
- Collaborate with other offices such as Admissions, Advancement, divisional principals, and parent associations to ensure messaging consistency
- Represent the School at internal and external events as needed, strengthening community partnerships and networks
- Manage the communications and marketing budget, including vendor selection and procurement processes
- Embrace and promote the JIS Learning Dispositions: Resilience, Resourcefulness, Relating, and Reflecting
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head of School
Requirements:
- Minimum Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
- Minimum five years of experience in strategic communications and marketing leadership, preferably in an international school or nonprofit environment
- Demonstrated expertise in brand strategy, digital marketing, campaign development, and audience engagement
- Proven success in enrollment marketing, lead generation, and community outreach initiatives
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage
- Strong skills in media relations, public speaking, and crisis communication
- Demonstrated ability to lead creative teams and manage designers, writers, and external vendors across multiple disciplines (design, media, digital, publications)
- Proficiency with content management systems, digital analytics tools, email marketing platforms, and social media management systems
- High level of cultural competency, interpersonal sensitivity, and leadership integrity
- Strong organizational ability and demonstrated success managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support school events and time-sensitive media needs
- A clear commitment to child safeguarding, equity, and intercultural understanding
