Overview

Responsibilities:

  • The Assistant Teacher enhances and supports the role of the teacher, and supports students to help them to reach their individual potentials. Assistant Teachers are expected to support the development of an exemplary and internationally-minded education through collaborative planning and active involvement in the classroom
  • A BIS Assistant Teacher participates actively in the school appraisal system, taking ownership of their professional goals and modeling lifelong learning
  • Follow all procedures detailed in the Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy without exception
  • Assist in the supervision of the children
  • Participate actively in classroom activities under the teacher’s direction when needed
  • Assist with facilitating instruction as directed by the teacher when needed
  • Communicate concerns regarding students or parents with the teacher, acting as a liaison between teachers and parents when appropriate
  • Enhance student awareness and understanding of Indonesian life, language, and culture
  • Perform minor clerical non-academic work as needed by the teacher, such as ordering and maintaining supplies, keeping classrooms tidy, and printing and copying materials
  • Assist in displaying student work that celebrates student progress and diverse abilities
  • Assist teachers and students with English Language Support for the Multilingual Language Program in line with the Language Policy
  • Support teachers and students in IT-related tasks such as video editing, online portfolios, and learning activities
  • Arrive on time to scheduled duties and actively roam and observe in assigned areas
  • Lead or assist in extracurricular activities
  • Attend all faculty and departmental meetings and in-service workshops provided by the school
  • Substitute for teachers in the case of an absence
  • Support school-wide events and act as advocates for BIS in the greater community
  • Carry out instructions from the Head of School and/or Area Principal related to the Assistant Teacher
  • Adhere to all school policies and handbooks

Requirements:

  • Commitment to international-mindedness, celebrating cultural differences, and sharing a genuine appreciation for diversity
  • Facilitate a student-centered, inquiry-based learning environment
  • Fluent English language skills (please reference IELTS / TOEFL score in cover letter)
  • Bachelor’s degree in English Education
  • Teacher certification and experience in supporting students with a range of abilities
  • Related teaching experience preferred
  • Passion for lifelong learning, self-improvement, and reflective practice
