About Universitas Katolik Atma Jaya

Atma Jaya Catholic University (Unika Atma Jaya) was the result of ideas discussed at a meeting of bishops in Java in June 1952. The meeting discussed the possibility of establishing a Catholic university in Indonesia. In Jakarta, this idea was realized with the founding of the Atma Jaya Foundation by a group of young Catholic intellectuals on June 1, 1960. This foundation later established a Catholic university called Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia.
